With the publication of the interim report of the Curriculum and Assessment Review, all eyes are on where that change is likely to come. Follow our curriculum change readiness checklist to understand what you should be thinking about now to prepare for upcoming changes.
What does the interim report tell us?
On first reading, there’s plenty flagged, though some points are only implicit. If the KS2 SPaG and writing tests are up for review, perhaps a cull of grammar and punctuation will result from the so-called ‘review of the volume’ of the KS1 and KS2 curriculum.
Other proposed changes—scrapping the EBacc, replacing maths and English resits, reducing exams at KS4, reviewing vocational qualifications at level 3 that sit alongside A levels and T levels—will all have significant effects too. The suggestion that a more, not less, specific curriculum might help reduce the volume of what is taught is another change which would have a large impact on the development of resources.
